Résumé
This study is made from 5 reactives of detection of the VIH infection used in the reference laboratory of Madagascar between the year 1989 and 2000; including 3 tests ELISA and 2 rapid tests. We have estimated the caracteristics of every reactive and their performance (specificity and sensitivity) upon the Malagasy population in general. The results of this estimation showed that the reactives using the ELISA technic are more sensitive but less specific. Whereas the rapid tests are more sensitive and more specific. About feasibility, rapid lets require no equipment but a higher cost, whereas the ELISA tests are less expensive but require more specialized staff and equipment. According to those results we can conclude the importance of the detection tests’ estimation in order to carry out the diagnosis of HIV infection
