Résumé
The diabetes mellitus is still a great problem in our general practice. Our study concerned the different signs which help a doctor for diagnosing diabetes mellitus. This study was realized on patients at the Cares, Formations and Researches Unit of Endocrinology at the University Hospital Center of Befelatanana from December 2002 to November 2003. We obtained 130 new patients, representing 15,6 % of all patients, with a mean age of 46,9 years old. 16,9 % of them did not present any classic sign of diabetes. The complications are found at 24,3 % over these new patients. 62,5 % have to do injection of insulin to obtain a good glycaemia. During one year, 8,4 % have died mainly by complications of diabetes. Our cases number is rather representative, we have to realize national studies to inform the population and to make up a national project
