The hemostasis profile forms part of routine pre surgical screening.This study investigated the usefulness and practicability of manual determination of main coagulation parameters. In most of Malagasy sanitary establishment, because of lack of automation, manual assay is usual in medical biological laboratory.Nevertheless, lack of skillful technician explains reducing numbers of hemostasis laboratory.Retrospective study was performed in the hematological laboratory of JRA Hospital about coagulation testing from may 2002 to may 2003. Above 1203 patients, abnormal coagulation results was found in 10 % of cases.Periodic quality control procedures are carried out by the biologist to identify the occurrence of any deviations which may lead to erroneous test results.
