Resume
Embelia madagascariensis is an endemic plant of Madagascar, it is used in traditional medicine to treat cough. According to previous paper, some species of Embelia contain triterpens. This result was confirmed by the phytochemical screening performed on the Embelia madagascariensis, triterpens were main components of the plant. The others components were flavonoids, tanins and polyphenols. During the research work, the 3β-OH taraxérol was isolated from the CH2Cl2 extract. Its structure was elucidated by analysis of its spectra data 1D, 2D NMR and comparison of previous spectra data. Performing biological test with acetonic extracts of Embelia madagascariensis showed good antihistaminic activities.
